Many of our friends and family are aware of the problems we encountered with the pregnancy and delivery of our two children, Jackson and Olivia. If not, I’ll give you a brief synopsis. I am rh negative and somehow got sensitized when I was pregnant with Jackson, our first. This is a very rare occurrence, indeed, and no one can explain how or why it happened. Starting at 7 months, we began to monitor Jackson until he needed to be delivered by emergency c-section at 35 1/2 weeks due to fluid surrounding his heart and brain and severe anemia called fetal hydrops. He stayed in the NICU for only 8 days.
We knew when we got pregnant with Olivia it would be worse, and worse it was. She had even closer monitoring, right from the beginning and was born during an in-utero transfusion that went poorly via emergency c-section at 31 1/2 weeks. She was in the NICU for almost 2 months!
We knew it would be hard to get Olivia here and we'd be lucky if she survived! Before and after she was born, she was very close to death. The nurses and doctors who cared for her those first few hours told me she was the most critical newborn on the floor the day she was born.
We were hoping to try for more, but every single doctor we spoke with advised against it since additional children would most likely not be as fortunate to survive. Kirk & I were both very upset by this news. We deliberated for a long time about what we would do in order to grow our family. For some time now, we have felt compelled and called to adopt. This feeling has become even more pronounced in the past few weeks which is why we are writing. We want, more than anything, to grow our family but are not able to do so on our own. We are sending this email to put some feelers out there for anyone who knows someone who will allow us to adopt their baby. We feel privileged to be the parents of our beautiful children. They are a blessing to us, and a joy! Still, we cannot shake the feeling that there is at least one more tiny soul that needs to come into our family!
Please pass along our information to anyone you may know of and keep us in mind (and your prayers) if you hear of anything! Thanks so much!

Adoption is such a blessing. I have 3 weeks until the adoption of my 3 beautiful girls is final- after trying for 6 years, we found out we couldn't have kids. Now, I know that it was because we were waiting for our sweet girls and I was meant to be their mom. Good luck on your adoption journey.
Thanks for sharing your story. The world needs more people like you:)
